Re: Gf16 gas tank Location

I have mine under the front deck. It is a tight fit to get it in there with the required 3 inch frame. The new tank that came with the 25 ETEC I recently purchased is taller than my old tank and will not fit through the opening. I used this one temporarily by lashing it so it stayed up tight to the ...

Re: cast nets......how hard is it to use one?

A little late on this thread as I'm not as regular around here as I used to be. One time when I was a kid I was throwing the net off the bow of whatever tin boat my dad had at the time. I wasn't very good with it and I remember hitting myself in the head and knocking my glasses over board. They were...

Re: PH18

Tom, CrackerLarry and I had this discussion a few years back when no one understood why I needed a tunnel in my GF-16. On a boat w/o a tunnel the optimum motor height is usually with the anti-ventilation plate typically an inch or two above the bottom of the boat, right? Well with a tunnel hull you ...

Re: PH18

While Tom does provide a lot of good info on these forums I have to say that he is wrong in respect to not gaining more from a tunnel. If the lower unit is 12-15 inches below the bottom of the running surface there is no way you're going to run in less water than that, period. By using a tunnel you ...

Re: Texas Scooter

I'm not hesitant, just don't visit the forum as much as I used to or want to. Take a look at my build thread, link in my signature below, for a good way to build your tunnel. I didn't like the first one I put in my GF-16 so I cut it out and put in one that has worked in hundreds of boats around my a...

Re: Low Shear FS17, OB17, and OD18

I've not been active on the forum for a while, but if you are interested in putting a pocket tunnel in one of these boats I would suggest a design other than that for the PH15 or XF20. I used that design when I put one in my GF-16 and was disappointed. So much so that I cut it out and replaced it wi...

Re: Ziess' GF16 Build in Oregon

Ziess, First of all, it looks like something quite important got overlooked. Congrats on the upcoming additions to the family! I finished my GF-16 a few years ago and had twin girls myself a little over two years ago. It has been non-stop ever since. I'm sorry to hear you found the limits of your hu...

Re: XF20 build changes

Pita, My last name is Oubre, but I've responded to a lot worse pronounciations than Osbourne. Shelby, A couple of thoughts on the tunnel: 1. Vent it!!! 2. Use a different design than the one that came in the plans. A couple of thoughts on strakes: 1. Don't put one right in the middle as it wil...

Re: PastorBob's GF-16

Hey PB,

I'm hit or miss now on the internet as a whole lately, but just saw the good news. Congrats from Texas.

My two girls are almost two and seem to have already entered their terrible two's. Running around like little terrors. Wouldn't trade it for the world though.

Re: Don's PH 18 w/tunnel

Don, It does appear that most of my pictures have disappeared from my thread. I suppose it happened when the board was moved to the new server or new format. My gallery is still available in the "builder galleries" and most all of the pictures are in chronological order. If you care to tak...
