FS14 skeg installation question
FS14 skeg installation question
Getting ready to install the skeg on my FS14. The skeg is a piece of red oak. I'm faired and have several coats of an epoxy based primer (Interlux Epoxy PrimeKote) on the hull. Since the primer is epoxy based do I need to sand off the primer down to bare clear epoxy to attach the skeg or can I glue to the primer? Tacking it in place with Gel Magic then using EZ fillet to fill the small gap on each side caused by the keel profile and to put a very small radius at the attachment point. It will get epoxy/graphite after installation when the rest of the hull is coated. I will not be glassing the skeg to the hull, but I don't want it to come off from improper glue up.

Re: FS14 skeg installation question
I would sand the primer off first, myself. And fillet it, and tape it and fair it in. Much easier to do before primer.
