Can anyone offer a suggestion/link to a good scupper or drain to use for the cockpit?
Also, I'm planning on adding these scuppers to both sides of the cockpit towards the rear. See attached for the purple dot where I'm planning to place these. Any suggestions here?

it looks like you haven't lowered the deck (stringer height) with you can do by one inch when adding a flat floor so it will probably be self bailing .. but the boat is so small (i have built one my self so i know) that shifting the weight will submerge the scrubbers .. so provided you close them when sailing, and not install a heavy engine without mounting fuel tank and battery in the front you'll be fine

also consider moving the rear seat frame rearward to give more room in the boat you dont need it as far forward when adding the rigidity of a floor

Yes, I'm thinking of scuppers that I can fully close but I'm having trouble sourcing some.
I originally wanted to place the gas and battery directly forward of the cockpit in that center hatch area but am concerned with battery/gas being so close together?

It is my understanding that if you use a portable gas tank it is permisable to place the batteries nearby ( ?? ).....would love for someone to clarify before I blow myself up The other solution would be to have 2 separate storage areas in the bow like Seaslugs build.anamealreadyinuse wrote: I originally wanted to place the gas and battery directly forward of the cockpit in that center hatch area but am concerned with battery/gas being so close together?
Re: FS14_LS Build. Drain Holes Needed?
To have gas and battery that close is against industry standards. It is reasonable to keep gas and battery separated.
That compartment is small, gas vapors can accumulate.
I would put the battery in the stern and gas in the middle or forward.
I like a portable tnak to be completely in the open for safety but if it can fit in the bow, it is almost as good.
The FS14_LS does not require more than a small 3 gallon tank (with a 4 stroke).

For drainage, just drill two holes and plug them with these...
Re: FS14_LS Build. Drain Holes Needed?
These simple plugs have been around and unchanged forever, never fail, and that's what I use in my cockpit. Pull the plug and let the water drain out the transom. Mike

The "KISS" principle does have it's virtues.
Not counting the time I launched and the drain plugs were not in the boat.

The plug I posted earlier in this thread allowed a decent size drain and does not clog with debris. I did take a little bit of rubber off of the
expansion ring with a drill and sander but it fit this scupper great .You just cut to fit the hull thickness.
