My FL 14

Post by WHP »

I got the plans a few weeks back and started building my FL 14.I just gave the bottom of the hull a coat of epoxy .Do i have to sand it before putting the fibreglass sheet over the hull? i, not building a skeg ,just some rails to help protect the bottom of the hull. What size( if possible in metric) should the rails ( don't know if rails is the correct word for it) be and how many should there be? Are the going the whole length of the bottom?

I call them runners but the name does not matter.
Exact size does not matter either: about 25 mm square.
You need either a skeg or runners for tracking: you can't row straight in string winds without them.

Gunwale on both sides is done sanded it . Set a smal board in to the bow to store the ancker, chain and rope. Next I drill holes for cleats and rod holders so I can seal the holes .
I,m brushing the whole boat with epoxy , do I still need a paint primer( undercoat ).
