Starting GV11

Post by PlanoDano »

I am starting a GV11.
Plan is to build the hull for planing with > 10hp. I will glass bottom panels with 12oz bi-ax inside and out. Planning on using bi-ax tape on keel seam and frame seams, debating on bi-ax or 9oz tape for upper/bottom seam. Currently plan on glassing upper panels with 9oz on the outside only.

Welcome to the fun :D Glad to see you are starting a builders thread. Ask questions, with pictures, and you will get lots of help if you need it.

Hi, welcome. Looking forward to watching another GV take shape. Good choice on the GV11, I built a GV10 but should probably have gone for the GV11. Looks like you’re off to a good start.
Alan.

I am giving that boat strong consideration as a tender/liferaft.

Looking forward to the build.

Biaxial tape for the seams please.

Fallguy - unless you're carrying a crowd, the GV10 is plenty. We had 6 adults in a GV11 and that was full, 4 adults in GV10 was full

Is this boat crying for 15hp or would 9.9hp bee sufficient?
Would typically be fishing by myself, sometimes with company of 1 other person.
