Yep............I spent 45 minutes laying at the bottom of the cliff before I could feel or move my arms and legs. Gives a guy plenty of time to think about what life would be like as a quadriplegic. Bad part was I had already let the darn thing roll over me earlier in the day and was stiff and sore so I was going slow taking it easy. If I had been going faster things would have worked out better..............that time One of the few times where faster was safer

Do you remember my post on "how not to retrieve your boat"? In the spring and early summer it can be really good halibut and king fishing just off that beach. Problem being is you need the boat to be able to take a beating if it gets rough and you want to come in. If this hull is not bullet proof it is dang close. 3/4 to one inch bottom, 3/8 to 1/2 inch sides. 4 full height stringers. It is just nice to have a boat you feel no need to baby.

Well boat work came to a halt for a few days Old man winter decided to show up around here. -10F here this morning I spent the last few days expanding the partition in my shop so I can get the Sintes 21 in it. It is nice to have a large shop but it is too big to heat the whole thing this time of the year.

Killed the battery in our car, I think it's froze.
So we were bundled up on the Honda going to an early Christmas party tonight. Got the boy sandwiched between me and his mom to keep him warm.
Think he was grateful?? Nope he was upset we didn't pull him on a sled behind........ none of the kids seem to mind the cold like we do.

Couldn't you just have sanded that thing a little rough and put a coat of 6 oz glass and epoxy over the entire thing?

Or is that like peanut butter over jelly?

The reason I'm asking is my 13' Whaler is going to get sanded and has some pretty bad aligators and I was gonna put a nice layer of 6 oz over the entire boat. I tried strippers, too hard on the gel coat. I don't see the value in taking all the gelcoat off.

No intention to hijack, but the project is similar.

My daughter called me from Fairbanks today. She is going to UAF. It has been -30 to -40 the past few days and even with a heat blanket for her battery it got killed. To be fair it was getting up there in age so no surprise.

You could do that on a whaler I guess. The outside skin on a 13 foot whaler is pretty thin and the sander might go through if you were not careful. Rough it up good and I think the epoxy/glass would stick. Not sure, never tried doing it that way.
The reason I took most of the gel coat off was because it was in bad shape. Real bad shape. I need to do some patching and fairing and want something solid to tie to. Plus there is no need to add glass to this thing..............it is a tank.
