My Graphite Epoxy Bottom Mix

My mix as follows: 8 oz of resin and 4 oz. slow hardener, then 1/2 cup of graphite power.

What I used;
BBC's
Graphite
MarinEpoxy with slow hardener

What I did;
Shifted graphite a few times.
Mixed epoxy and hardener.
Added graphite slowly as I mixed.
Rolled on slowly.
Wet on wet, 1/2 to 1 hour between coats.
Did not sand at all.

I guess we shall see if this holds up. So far, I dropped the boat on it's transom (no skig), hard!
Nothing cracked or chipped off! Also, it's very slippery!

In just a few weeks, I'm planning on doing the exact same to my old '86 Gheenoe. I'm curious, how's it been holding up?

That's about what I do, except my mixing order is quite different.

I heat up just the resin to hot tap water temperature and mix the graphite into that, then let it cool down to room temperature. Heating the resin makes it really thin and I don't have to sift anything; the powder mixes really easily and all the bubbles migrate out as it cools.

Then I mix in the activator and spread. Super easy. Wears well. Comes out pretty smooth. You can see the reflection isn't super distorted in this pic.

I believe my wife was initially attracted to me partly because I have a rebellious streak a mile wide and I can't really be told what to do.

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea when she was in her early twenties.

I did an experiment today using the approximate ratio provided by Cracker. I upped the graphite just a tad, (2.5 tablespoons/3 oz. mixed epoxy) at room temperature. Rolled one coat with Marineepoxy and a different coat using Silvetip. Both applied using West System foam rollers. The Silvertip batch was much smoother. Still not spray quality but acceptable to me for the expected abuse this hull will see. I have been taking lots of photos of the build (FS12 for my godson/nephew). I'll try to do a one shot build thread after it is proven to float. That way, no one can tell me that what I am doing won't work
