I think somethings wrong with me .
Two years ago my first rebuild was documented on here. A 20’ Roamer Skiff. Really appreciate all of your help by the way!!
I’ve regretted selling, for many reasons, and just found one locally that was already demo’d, took a ride and jumped on it. After the privateer I bought a 20' sea ox, did a complete cosmetic refit it had solid bones and a low hour newer ETEC, but decided it wasnt for me due to the deep draft/weight etc. Great big hull for sure, but I have a sandy shallow ramp behind the house and if I cant get in and out out of there then my boating is significantly cut down.
These roamer skiff hulls are special to me because theyre rare, and because they draft 7” and can get skiff skinny without the jarring ride of a Carolina skiff etc.
Caps in rough shape, 1500$ from privateer for a new one I think is the right direction.
All in plan to be under 6k on the rebuild with power, rigging, etc. Have a f115 yamaha lined up from a friend of mine who is repowering, going to raise the floor so she’s self bailing, remove the front step, maybe a coffin box. Skinny console, open floor plan.
Just sourced 3/4" Merranti 1088 for 83$ a sheet locally. Going to go full Merranti on floor stringers transom.

Start a build thread. We all enjoy good boat porn
Re: Another Privateer Roamer Skiff
15 hours with the grinder, blew up two 7" Harbor Freights. It sat outside exposed and gutted for atleast 5-6 years, the glass was so dirty I just kept grinding till I got to clean pink. Dont remember having to grind this much on the last one but I assume its because it sat outside. I took down an easy 1/8-1/4"
New floor will sit on top of the old ledge left from the old floor, theoretically raising it around 1".
This will be a Merranti/Ebond Epoxy build. 1708. skinny 24x24x38-40 console, insulated coffin box forward of console. f115 yamaha four stroke lined up from a buddy who is repowering in the future.

Re: Another Privateer Roamer Skiff
gelcoat is pretty "crazed" below the waterline where the "bottom paint" sort of was.

SlickCav,
Hey man, I don't see some of your photos for some reason. Really looking forward to you doing another boat. I enjoyed your first Privateer rebuild very much.
So, you sold that Roamer and also sold the Sea Ox and now have another Roamer?
Thanks

Know you are no noob to this but I've been:
downsizing with this: https://www.birme.net/
then uploading and using the url code from this: https://imgbb.com/
Seems to work well. Excited to see your new project. I've been over your last privateer many times over the past as a source of inspiration and info.

Re: Another Privateer Roamer Skiff
lets try this again:
templating stringers and transom tomorrow.
Waterline down is plenty “crazed” going to be a blast tackling that. Plan to get stringers transom in first, then flip the boat and redo the bottom. Grind/sand all loose gel, clean, epoxy fairing compound the entire bottom, sand, then vc performance epoxy I guess.
Cap is a few weeks out per privateer.
15 gal epoxy ordered (crazy great pricing via EBOND Epoxy), 50 yds 50" 1708 ordered (fiberglasssite), wood flour here, chip brushes and blades stocked up, measuring cups and gloves stocked up.
Ended up picking up 9 sheets of 3/4" Merranti BS 1088 for 83$ a sheet, unreal pricing!
Decided I am going to raise transom to 25".
Hope that sitting new floor on top of old "Lip" is enough "Height raised" to keep her self bailing etc.
Eyeing up the 115 merc proxs for repower, as much as it pains me to go "new".
