The anchor locker and battery base tacked in. Other than the partial soles this is the first real addition to the plan. Really want to get the anchor out of the way. A previous 19' boat of mine had no anchor locker and the anchor and crate kept on getting in the way and stubbing ankles and toes. This locker is bigger than needed but I wanted to make allowance for the hatch size as well as provide room for the light base and cleat that will be mounted up front.

Some more updates

Post by Mawrob »

Made some good progress this week. Here are some updated pics:

Bench hatch and chase pipes:

Foam in the back and motor mount. Little screw up with the transom - somehow cut too low but this will not be noticable with the motor on.
Image
Foaming beneath the soles:
Image
Fish locker that I almost destroyed removing. I added too much foam and the box got pushed up - almost as good as before.

Anchor hatch and front locker:

Cutting rear deck:

Looks like your gonna have every possible option on that 14' boat! :) Nice work, you'll be well experienced on the details for your next and bigger boat!

Nice looking boat and amazing fast build. How much time do you have into it thus far? Gotta say I'm a little envious of your construction progress in such a short time.

I'm guessing either you are really a "get it done" type of guy or you don't require sleep.

Thanks chicagoross. Bigger boat - hmm. Need a bigger workshop  . My bigger (bought) boat is likely to see less use this year and my gas saving will cover the cost of the new materials - wonder if I can fabricate a stitch and glue for sale sign

I estimate I have about 100 hours in so far (12 to 14 hour weekends between sports and other events and 2 hour evenings and the occasional 1 hour early morning) since May 3, 2008 - my long suffering family  . Probably about 70 hours to go now for a less than perfect finish. I have not spent much time pondering my work - I also order ahead as much as possible and am able to run off to a HD during lunch (not included in the time) - I have a tight schedule in MS Project that I adjust as I go along and try to stick to it - here is the rest of the plan - a little an*l

Rob,

It's coming together nicely.

I got two frames taped in place and the back seat top cut out. We've had some record setting weather the past week which makes working in the garage a real pain. My main problem now is where to put what. As Cracker Larry would say, "I'm pondering the problems". I'm thinking about putting the battery where you have your fish box and then put the gas tank under the middle seat, if it'll fit. The reason I don't know if it'll fit is that I haven't made up my mind what motor I want to put on it, 9.9 or 15 hp.

I like your idea of the anchor locker. Keeps it out of the way when not in use, I was thinking along the same lines. I plan to cut down the front fame and make it into a seat. I'm to clumsy to use it as a casting platform.

Keep up the good work.
