od16 # 2

Post by rcihard »

Started my 2nd od16 2 weeks ago and have been lucky enough to have a good run at it without interuption. Now have hull sides dry fitted and will glue them tomorrow (fishing today :D )
Build has gone very quickly the second time around, although as usual chine panels were a bugger to fit but finally got them in.
Planning on doing the casting deck seating like Pat4's od and have some ideas about a different centre consol, also going to add an extension to the bow to get rid of the droopy nose effect (which again is starting to appear on this build, I am wondering if a longer center stringer may fix this issue  )
Hopefully have this finished by mid December, and have permission from the missus to by an etec 30hp :D
Cheers
Richard

sorry mate... not sure of the meaning of the question :?: :?: Are you asking after the quality of my build re the short time frame or are you aking for pictures :?: :?: :?: Specificity would eliminate the possibility of misinterpretation and hence an unwarrented response :D Either way didn't catch any fish today so I could have stayed at home and glued up the hull panels (yes thats the stage I am up to 8O ), no worrys' can catch up in the morning.

Thanks for the comments guys and the request for photos :) . I wasn't planning on posting pix of this build, but I will take some shots this afternoon after gluing the hull sides and put them on the board. Hope to get a fair bit done this week as I am going to be flat out with work commitments for the rest of November, this may put a dent on my time frame for a mid December launch  . Currently 6.20am here in Oz, so one more cup of coffee and then into it :D

Sounds good Richard! Hurry up and finish the OD so you can get back to that GT27. I'm still itching to see one of those come together

George re gt27
Have the hull, bum, stringers, transoms fore & aft cut out and mostly glued for the gt27, however I can't move the hull and bottom on my own, have been waiting for my brother in law to come and help me stitch the thing together but work and other issues have been getting in the way. We have agreed to get back into it next winter (june - august for us down under).
Meanwhile have glued the hull sides together and done the seams for the transom, hull, seat sides for the dory today etc, ...now too buggered to take photos so will post pix during the week....now off to have a big hot shower and more than a few wines :D
cheers

Well I have made a little progress since my last post. Work has been getting in the way :help: :help: , but have got some free time coming up at the end of November.
Hull sides are glued, rear end glassed and new shape for casting deck cut out and dry fitted.
Noticed I have a small twist in the bottom front of the boat  Not reflected too much in the sole but definetly on the bottom, twist is about 5-10mm running from bow about 3 feet back, I think my starbourd stringer may have been a little shallower than the centre and port stringers  I plan to build it up with fairing compound or with sections of glass. The rest of the hull appears fine. Does anyone have any thoughts on this problem. I am not to worried, I doubt that it will have an impact on planing as it is right at the front of the boat :?:
Sorry have not taken any pix but will do so at the first opportunity.
Cheers
Richard
