I would listen to Jacques and Ross, those two are very experienced in this build method

After about 24 hours and two pots of boiling water the straps haven't gotten any looser. Right now the tie-downs are VERY tight, the board makes cracking sounds and I'm afraid if I tighten it anymore the board is going to break. This is what the gaps still look like.

I think I might have to just take it off and kerf it. I'm going to wait a couple more days and see.

I'm with Larry. I had the same kind of spaces with my LB22. I think Meranti just can't make the bend with some of these designs. Seems like I read Jacques saying he used Okoume specs for that in the software that does the panels. I did more than kerf, which required a bit of fairing. It worked fine, but I'd just kerf next time. Here's pics of my effort:

I wouldn't wrestle with it anymore. I bought that T-shirt.

Welcome. Your build is already looking good. As the others have said, Listen to Jacques and the other experts. They do know what they are saying you should do. John

I used Okume on my Nina Dougster but it took an extra pair of hands and a lot of cussin' to get it done without kerfing :help:

I built the panga about 4 years ago. Kerf it until it hurts. Inside only, as shown on the bottom sketch. To bring the keel down to the frames use pieces of angle and eye bolts to wrench it down.
