SPLASHED

Post by jorgepease »

Hi,

Well I am starting a build thread for the XF 20.

These are the mods but its likely to change.
1) I lowered the sheer 9"
2) I will be decking across the entire top, one big flat surface.
3) I may be adding sponsons, Iv cut a couple extra station molds in case I do. They will be short (12"-14") and used manly as steps
4) The deck/hull will be connected with an out turned flange
5) The console will be raised 10 inches or so and attached to a vertical flange, I don't want any holes in this boat ...EVER :)
6) Corecell / Fiberglass / Epoxy, Vacuum Injected ... I will probably be very close to spec'd weight.
7) Strakes according to what I have learned in other threads here .. will be added in one shot for best strength, Stringers as well.
8) The only hatches will be access hatches since I am sure to take water over the deck more often than most boats.
9) Generour number or recessed cleats in decks to secure coolers, chairs, kiteboard racks etc ...

I redrew the boat on the computer to get my 22 stations and then sent off to get the MDF molds CNC cut. The rest I will cut in my space. Im attaching pictures here. Work will progress slowly since I can only do this after my real work. Have a few pics to upload ... but not sure how that works, I guess I need to upload to my own server first??

Cheers!

yes, upload the pics to either your user gallery here or someplace else online (like photo bucket, etc) then link them into your post with the "img" brackets on either side by using the "img" button located just above your text box where you type in your post. Keep in mind that this forum software prefers pics to be 640x480 so resizing prior to hosting online may be required 8)

Me thinks maybe you are building to small a boat?
I'm jealous of your building space, yeah, yeah, I'm jealous.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm really lucky to have that space loaned to me by my boss. But ihe 20 is as big a boat as I would build there because its on the second floor. We will bring her down with a forklift, a bigger heavier boat would be tough. Im in the Fl Keys now picking up my tools, will start Monday and post as I go

I'v had little time to devote but today I started to assemble the molds. The vacuum infusion specialist from composites1 said he was going to stop by and help me with a material list but so far he has not called. I will call him in the morning, Im pretty sure they don't stock the corecell in Fl. Tomorrow I will run the battens, so far it looks nice and symmetrical, square and plumb.

Here are some new images

and side. The last two molds (stern) are in case I add the sponsons.
