BarraMan,
She's starting to take the shape of a boat! Nice progress.
I used WestSystem for most of my build on both my builds actually, (shipping epoxy from bateau was big $$) the 410 was great for the fillets, mix with a little wood flour, it's also great for a fairing compound mixed straight with thier epoxy, when I ran out of woodflour I used 403 for glueing.
Keep up the nice progress.

Big day on the job for me today - bottom panels spliced!
So what have I learned so far?
Its a lot easier to write, "I am going to scale the plans up by 10% that it is to execute that intention"!
Not that scaling up itself is difficult - but it takes what already a fairly big boat and makes it a really big boat! Interesting when you are working solo.
Its hard to get the scale of these things in a photo, but that garage is 6 M (19.7 ft) deep!
My pile of wood is well down in size - it should start to look like a boat soon!
I am away for work all of next week but hope to get the side panels spliced next weekend.
Stitch-up should follow soon after!

Its a BOAT !!!!
Fascinating how after all that cutting and splicing and stitching - all those odd shaped bits of wood come together as per the plans.
Good one Jacques!
Slight "hook" in the keel that is obvious in the pic has since been adjusted out!

Re: BarraMan's Mangusta 21 barraboat in Townsville, AUS
An update seems in order.
I have been working away, slowly but steadily - I try to do a bit every day.
External keel and chines triple-taped!
I am very happy with my progress and my work to date. I think I have epoxy glue and taping sussed, although its pretty interesting sitting on top of an 18o dead-rise hull, taping the keel!
I think I have managed to achieved a nice bow profile.
Dealing with this "monster" in our double garage is a bit of a challenge. It just fits in on the diagonal - with 1/2 inch to spare - so I swing it around to give me a bit of room to work on it. You can see that our driveway has a fair slope - I have had it right out on the driveway for sanding a couple of times but its a tough job for Mrs Barraman and I to get it back up into the garage. I may rig up a winch to help with that.
Taping the transom today, then getting up the courage to attack the "big one" - sheathing the exterior in 12 oz cloth.
Like most, I spend about 3 hrs thinking for every hour building, and so far its going well.
I think you have to build one of these boats to really appreciate the advantages of the building method. You can read all you like about how strong these boats are - but when you build you one you can see first hand how it works.
Way cool!

Great job. The bow profile looks beautiful, and you did clean work on the taping job.
