Re: ST 21 Noosa Australia
Every now and then you get lucky. Managed to locally purchase a used Festool Rotex 150 RO sander and Festool 40 litre vacuum setup in top condition. Also included was a Festool RTS 400 EQ sanding head for corner work. My doctor, who's husband is a boat builder, has been advocating a Festool setup that filters sanding dust down to 0.3 microns.
Currently building Jacques Mertens ST21 "Skinnydip". Boating adventures: Splash testing and using 'Skinnydip, as a basis of further building refinement; Adams 44’ sailing sloop "Great Sandy" (cruising and maintaining); Iain Oughtred Feather Pram "Mini Dip" (building); Jacques Mertens R13 "Wood Duck" (built and due for maintenance).
Re: ST 21 Noosa Australia
That's a good deal you found, it's hard to find good used Festool tools (and they never go on sale). Their abrasives are good, and the excellent dust collection makes the sandpaper last longer. Money well spent.

Took the plunge and winged it to give expression to a deeply held aesthetic prejudice .... non planning-hulls look better with round chines above the waterline.
Now to make the bow fair!

That's not on the plans but well done.
I also like the way you faired the stem in profile, very nice.

Is that you, "Rhapsody In Glue"?
I haven't given too much thought to my hull protection at this stage. I am interested in the experts on this forum comparing your suggestion to graphite/epoxy mixtures, aluminum powders, etc..
Hi Joshua - Yes, that certainly is Rhapsody in Glue - thanks for the introduction/referral!
