FS-18 - "Bare Bones"

Still plugging away after work.
I have built my jig and I am in the process of cleaning up the stringers and lining everything up. I'm far from happy with the alignment but I'll get there. The Chinese birch molds were labeled in pencil d and e from the factory. Should they have been labeled c and d?



The bow mold notch is bottomed out, I think I need to cut it deeper...



Starting to read other FS18 threads for ideas, there are a bunch of nice ones under construction and completed.

AA, sorry about that. You are correct, they should be C and D. Looks good so far!! My only recommendation would be to raise up your strongback with some legs with castors on them. This will help you get underneath and aid in stitching. I also got a good tip from Seaslug, use painter's tape on the inside to cover all the seams. This way the fillets won't run thru at all and will save you a bunch of sanding time when you flip. Lastly, definitely notch out the bow mold and station A a little more so the bow mold sits flush with station A. We will make this change in the CNC kit for the future.

I've got wheels to go under the skids on the ends of the jig. I'll pick up the jig with the forklift when I get done fussing with the stations...

Got a little bit done this weekend on the boat. Got her all stitched together



The bow protested a little but with a little gentle persuasion, I got it tightened up...



Shot for this for type of alignment, was pretty happy with the results...




Lastly, tacked it together...
