Boatbuilding perfectionist/former window industry professional installing windows on his boat? May want to have a seat, could be here a little while.

:D
There are only two seasons in Vermont: boating season, and boat-building season.

Completed Paul Butler 14' Clark Fork Drifter
Completed Jacques Mertens FS14LS + 10%, Build Thread

Fortunately, it is just light sanding, a 47th vacuuming of the cabin, and repainting today.

I think I will try to get some headliner up, too. But three windows need to go back in. The windows were easier to remove than mask for sanding and painting. I only had them screwed in partway. The bottom screws are a pita to screw in because I don't have good access to them. I need a mechanical interface. How come noone ever invented a screw you can lock onto before you turn it? Bitlock screws. I even have the name. Now to engineer.

Bolt/socket not an option there?

All the trims are countersunk for #8s. It just seems like modern man could have invented a means to grab em better. I am a fairly strong man and have hi screwed way more than 100,000 screws in my life and these are a real bear to install, for me.

The issue is the attack angle.

Internal hex flush screws can be driven with an allen head. Lots of ikea furniture assembled this way.

There are a couple of particularly hard to reach locations I frequently need to access on some of our planes I replaced the often stripped phillips head screws with internal hex heads and made life much easier.

Torqs (star bit) is pretty popular for wood screws as well I think.
