Someone talked about pool paint the other day. Looked hard as nails.
Kiwigrip seems a bit soft.

Looks like it is about time for a test run
Re: 23 ft Hartley Cabin boat repair/rebuild and hull extension
Hi guys
Gunnels in non-skid. I will be the first to admit that it is a bit coarse to my taste, but I will see if a second coat of gelcoat will smooth over the texture some more. The weather has not been on my side. Most days are still spent sanding which is boring to show......lol
Till next time.
Cheers!

Rough non-skid might be highly functional.

Hi guys
Finally some real progress....... I have finshed the transom/splashwell area with the intention of securing all hardware and hanging the outboards. This is in anticipation of a bad weather spell headed my way so that I can continue with rigging till the weather clears.
What is left to do?
1. Flowcoat on the interior including fishbox and cooler box;
2. Non-skid on the deck (Less coarse than the gunnels);
3. Rigging;
4. Sanding, buffing and polishing the sides.

I have heard that Micatex by Plascon - which is an SA product made to paint walls and give them a textured makes a great - and cheap non-skid.... It’s available all over the place. Might be worth a try...

Micatex is a water based paint, altough tough not hard enough for a wearing surface like a deck.TomTom wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 8:45 am I have heard that Micatex by Plascon - which is an SA product made to paint walls and give them a textured makes a great - and cheap non-skid....
