if the springs are super stiff you will be fine

Decided to take the c17 for some fishing in the gulf today she ran great caught 4 reds 6 black drum and two monster 36 plus inches drum and about 20 sheepshead then got home to see that my bbc order came early

Looks like you and the kids had great day fishing. Well most days fishing are good but when you catch them like that it is a great day.

Tasty haul right there!

Reds and sheep’s are some of the hardest pulling fish around.

Its not attached at the moment but I will just epoxy the aluminum strip down the hit it with the graphite
You want to ensure that you do not get oxide forming between the Aluminium and the epoxy or the bond will fail over time. Sanding some neat epoxy into the aluminium just before thickening to glue is a good idea to maximise bond strength. Oxide forms instantly on surfaces exposed to air. I'd ensure it's sealed around to keep air and water out of the bondline as well. Do it once.

I'm using UHMWPE for mine. Softer, but more abrasion resistant.

Something else that will work is to mold up a piece of glass 1/4-3/8 thick and glue it to your skeg. It would stand a lot of abuse and be easy to fix. you could knock a big hunk out of it and it not hurt a thing.
