Great! You know we love the pictures. So what made you pick an OD18? And what will it be used for? How is the other boat doing?

I seen one close up recently and thought it would be perfect for the area I fish i can get in the redfish ponds and sight fish and still get to the outside bays for specks in the summer 😀 the c17 is great too my dad loves it we take it out every chance we get no complaints at all with the c17 with a cc smooth dry ride but i gave the boat to my dad and
I still need my own lol 😆 I can do the same thing with the c17 tho but I like the lower freeboard on the OD18 I seen that u have one also but didn't see a build thread for it

My build thread is here https://forums.bateau2.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=28287 It is eight years old and not the best build thread. I did not know how valuable a thread could be back then. And photo bucket has the pictures all messed up.
That is a nice thing, huge, to give your dad the other boat. I think he would say you are a good son :D
I have been very happy with my dory but like always there are a few things I would do different now. Two things come to mind, one they need splash rails and two I think about 70 hp would be about right. Due to regs where I use the boat most I can only run max 50hp and am always feeling like a little more would be better. But then my dory is pig heavy.

Raise the deck at least 1 inch. By the time I was done and with a 70 on the back it won't self bail. Other than that I love it! Watching...

Or build it as light as you can. Okoume, no extra glass, (or very light cloth) above the sole. No CC, or gunwales, tiller only. And then it will self bail. It would be nice to see a barebones OD18.

Only the side panels will be meranti the rest of the boat is okoume ( transom, molds, sole ,deck ,etc) but it will be a CC tho I'm not sure if I want to do self bail on this one 🤔
