I went to the shop, took the upper leg, sanded it with 400, 600, 1500, then McGuire's and buffed lightly. This is the color I wanted. I don't like that dark beige that Johnson/Evinrude has. I just wanted to cut the white down a little.

You can slightly tell that the color is not exactly white. This is what I wanted. After I get everything painted, I will go to West Marine and pick up the blue. Then it will look great. Shiny? I haven't used step 3. That's the glaze.

As you can see, I passed my welding final. Actually, I did well. The final exam was a nightmare. "For a N3-3M FCAW, what would the ESO be"?

What's next, you ask? Upholstery! There is an upholstery class that is offered by a sewing machine co. here in Long Beach, CA. So, now that I weld and will soon know how to sew, I can do all the work. I won't have to pay anyone else to do any work on my boat.

I set the needle bearings and seals.

I then installed the water pump.

I lined the upper leg with high tep fibercloth, 2 layers.

This is the new exhaust muffler that is aluminized. I drilled holes in it and bent them over to create baffles. I didn't want to assemble a motor without a muffler, it will warp the valves. I then trimmed the pipe to fit the upper leg. I'll photo the leg with the new muffler tomorrow. I even have the blue paint for the motor pan and transome mount.

I've done a little work on the outboard. The exhaust is finished and fits nice.

The paint I bought matches good. I used and industrial oil base. Alot cheaper than 2 part epoxy and alot easier to repair. Everything gets banged up sooner or later and I didn't want to spend 70 bucks to repaint. Besides, the white is marine paint. The color is above the waterline. I should have everything together by the weekend. That's not where that parts goes. I just wanted to shoe the color match.

I wanted to change the color scheme a little, so I painted the botom part of the motor pan white where the upper leg is. It ties in better. After the transome parts are dried, maybe tomorrow, I'll re-assemble and start to work on the motor. I need to detail it some more. My hands got a little dirty.
