Drain Holes for GF 16

Post by johnnemo »

What size drain holes are recommended for a GF16 for water to pass through the bottom of the bulkheads? Should I use 1/2 circles cut with a hole saw, or use a large hole bit and have the bottom of the circle be flush with the floor of the boat? Any pictures would be very helpful.

Is it best to cut these before installing the bulkheads?

I dunno that much,, but I'd cut mine first, and I'd go a half circle/oval with a jig saw.

But dunno much Dougster

I did mine with a 1 1/2" hole saw. Had a half circle on the bottom of the bulkhead done in two places. They seem to work well. whether it is water or gas it will pass through the openings!!!

How big do they need to be to pass a fuel line through?

Probably closer to a 2" half circle since I cannot get an OMC connection through mine at 1 1/2".
