Console mounting fs17

Post by LSUred »

I'm not planning on building my console with a base, and it will be permanent. So fillets and tape on the inside(double) and outide will be sufficient for a CC, right? Or do I need to build a lip on the inside to do a bolt through? The plans only show consoles with a base so I'm just curious

I taped mine down with 12oz. biax tape inside and out. IIRC I did two layers outside 1 layer inside. Don't want it going anywhere. ;)

Jacques,

I think most of our consoles are do not have bases as in the diagrams. I assume tabbing it down with 12oz biax inside and out is just as good as that is how your diagram shows the bases attached.

Mine is attached just like the rest of the boat. Glued, filleted and taped. It's as strong as any other part of the boat.

Yes that's fine.
It's true that our consoles do not have a lip. That lip is only necessary if you want a removable console that you bolt down.
