tarpon skiff

Post by fungidog »

I see on the homepage editorial section you're working on designs for a tarpon skiff. Will this be a readily available plan or is it a one off custom design?

It will become available as a stock plan. I am somewhat stuck with the outboard version: it's not pretty to have that engine cowling sticking out.
The inboard looks fine.
The lines and scantlings are complete but I pushed the drawing aside for a while, I may come up with an idea about the outboard.

Are you thinking of the outboard or the inboard version?

This is the boat she is based on:

I'm thinking outboard. Roughly, what are the dimensions?

Not the style of the boat.
It's really an inboard boat. I can hide the outboard somewhat, not perfectly but a bracket will clash with the looks of the boat.

I bet this will be a beautiful boat! I love the lines of some of those classic inboards that we see around Charlotte Harbor/Boca Grande. My vote is diesel - 22-23 knot cruise, 3-4 MPG, small keel, NICE!

Jacques, I just stumbled on this thread, as a result of your recent comment elsewhere that you are currently pushing to finish designing a composite ply and glass version of the boat pictured below. Will you be selling plans for an inboard version? To my eye, she's a beauty. :D

What's her draft including prop? Is she beachable?

I prefer the inboard and yes, I will be selling plans for
- inboard
- closed transom with bracket for outboard
- motorwell outboard.
