Hey ya'll we have flipped our OB17 and are ready to start on the inside. I wanted to know how ya'll are laying the seam tape and most importantly, the mat on the inside. I'm hesitant to walk on the bottom panels with no molds or stringers inside. I modified my strongback by adding a 12 ft board down the center for the keel to sit on. To keep it upright, I have two 8ft boards running down the edges of the strongback. Thanks for any help.

It must be well supported: long boards outside and inside, walk on the boards.

Thanks Jacques, I am going to try working from the outside and make a platform to work from.

This is what I came up with. It's a platform on casters so I don't have to step inside the boat.

How is the hull supported?
When I was at that stage, I had the hull supported by planks along the keel and underneath the stringers, for over a year!
imo you're not going to be able to use that platform if the plans call for laminating glass on the inside - you need to be able to walk around inside the hull, and trust me, the hull is strong enough to be able to do that if well supported.

Yeah, I think you're over-thinking it. I supported my 22' hull with a plank under the keel and bunks under the stringers. Had no issues walking around in the hull. Your rig is impressive but I think it will be a big hassle glossing from that platform.

Here was my cradle - built upside down on the boat before the flip:
absolutely no problem walking around after flipping it.
Walking around in the boat was necessary, including kneeling - which led to epoxying my pants to my knees!

I tend to overthink things, its a problem I have. The paint turned out so good that I didn't want to take any chances with cracking something. Wobblylegs, I have since added bunks like you had. Originally the bunks were touching the hull on the edges of the boards and I have since turned them to sit like they would on the trailer to distribute the load better.
Wadestep, thats some extra serious engineering .
One more question before we glass the inside; I measured the beam and I have 82.25 inches. The plans say 78 inches (6.5 ft). Am I going to have fitment issues with my CNC deck panels with the wider beam? Should I ratchet strap while we lay the interior glass? Thanks for helping with my over-thinking

Re: Can I stand in my unfinished boat?
The plans give the dimensions without the rubrail. If your rubrails are about 2" thick (and they look thick), then you will be fine.
This happens sometimes: for some reason, the panels flare out but, if you work from a kit, you have the molds to pull them back in shape.
If the topsides try to pull away from the mold, I recommend straps with a temporary rubrail to fair it.
Normally, with a kit, if you panels touched the molds at the sheer, you should be fine.
