Re: OD18 - NH Technical Questions
Hi everyone, I'm no ware near to needing this yet but just doing some advanced planning. I am looking for ideas on how to get the outboard rigging tube to exit the hull in the motor well of my OD18 instead of the right hand locker. I would like to do this so that I can keep the locker for storage and use as an ice chest. I think there is enough room under the motor well for the filter and plumbing etc. The big problem is I believe that it will also require a change to hydraulic steering as the bends will be to sharp for a Teleflex cable.
Anyone got any good ideas.

I'd just go with Hydraulic steering. I went with hydraulic and I came out of the locker. In my opinion I love the Hydraulic and would do it again in a minute.
Completed: FL14, OD18
Re: OD18 - NH Technical Questions
I've owned both. I much prefer hydraulic.

Bennett Tabs customer service is the best I have ever dealt with.
I sent them a ram to re-build (my fault it needed re-built left in down position when lifted by forklift) they sent ram back re-built at no cost.
Also had a solenoid go bad after 15 years and they walked me through a test procedure on phone to prove the solenoid was bad.

Re: OD18 - NH Technical Questions
I added a jack plate to my dory and with it there I was afraid I would have problems with cable steering. Went with hydraulic and am happy I did so I vote for that like the others.
