Extreme 20 question

Post by Country1 »

Getting ready to start building one of these extreme 20 models but want to build a bigger model. I built boats for 14 yrs but retired 12 yrs ago so have experience. Question I have if I add 6" across the bottom to make it 8'6" beam and add 2 ft to the length will I have to add to the entry or can I just add it between the start of entry to the transom? Just don't want it to push and not lay over on turns.

I'll let the designer respond, but typically, you don't just add slices in this style of construction, you scale the dimensions. You can scale up to 10% either up or down. +10% on a XF20 will yield an 8.8' beam and approx. 22' LOA. It is guaranteed to mess up the nesting though. It is much easier to scale the metric plans, because everything is already decimals.

I'm sure you have your reasons for making it bigger, but have you been on an XF20 as designed? It already is a lot of boat with a huge payload capacity. Where are you in Florida? Bet there is someone near you with an XF20...

I use to own one but would like to have a 8'6" beam and go to 23-24ft.

I tried to find a set of plans closer to the 23-24ft but couldn't find any.

Does anyone know if there are any plans similar to the extreme 20 model closer to 23-24 ft?

No.
What is the reason? Fishing charter?

It would require a complete redesign.

3 boats or 3 passengers each?

BTW, 3 boats mean the purchase of 3 plans (you buy a license to build one per plan).
If you buy 3 plans, I may draw some of the changes and specs for a larger XF23, a scaled one.
Does it have to be trailerable? If yes, it will be a stretched one.
