Well three steps forward 5 steps back. Things were going great planned to prime this weekend. On my third/ forth round of fairing I’m not sure what happened but it didn’t set. I’m using a digital scale in a bag so it doesn’t get full of dust and goo. I measured the first part then measured the second part, by weight it was right, but thinking back i though it was light on part b. 9 hours later it was hard but with the consistency of silicon caulk. Needless to say it is like going all the way back to the first coat. I had to knife most of it and grind the rest. By your 4th round he 10 oz of fairing covered the back 8 feet of the boat and the transom. I lost 5 hours and wanted to cry. Not to mention that I’m going to lose a week because I’ll probably run out of fairing and have to order more. If that happened again I’m starting over.

Re: LM18 Madison Wi Building questions
happened to me as well. I wasn't a huge fan of the quickfair. I had mixing/setting issues. Reid said stick with very small batches. I did most of my fairing with epoxy and wood flour. When it works it works nice but every now and then that would happen
Re: LM18 Madison Wi Building questions
Well, I recovered pretty good. I went through about 4 sanding discs as the fairing was gimmie. I probably need to mix up a half batch more of fairing. I went through the entire hull with a straight edge drawing lines where I see day light and making patterns where I need to bring up hull. I have a couple hours of sanding today, but I'm close to primer. What grit should I get to before primer? 120?

Re: LM18 Madison Wi Building questions
I mix qf in medicine cups.
Only a scale would work for batches over 3 oz.

Re: LM18 Madison Wi Building questions
How do you mix in medicine cups? Isn't it by wieght. Better question is how do you get it all out of the cups?
Thanks

Re: LM18 Madison Wi Building questions
I use a medicine cup for each color and take it out with a tongue depressor. Two cups of part a and one cup of part b.
use the same cups and the same tongue depressers and a trowel for mixing and you can keep using them over and over

Re: LM18 Madison Wi Building questions
I thought of using those yesterday. Did not think about reusing the cups. Amazon delivered 500 for total of $6.50. A bit of overkill. Wife said I could use em in 30 years when she needs her pills
