Taping console - how many layers?

Post by TomTom »

I have forgotten - what is the recommended amount of tape (6" wide 450 gsm) biaxial to tape down a center console?

Is it one or two layers?

Thanks

Note that the console is also bolted from the inside.

My c17 has 1 layer woven each side. I’d go bisexual but wouldn’t bother with the bolt if it’s a hassle. Open console floor Taped in both sides would be stronger IMO.

Mine is taped with a single layer of 12 oz. Biax inside and out. No bolts. Very solid.

Console study plan on BBC called for 2 layers 12 oz biax tape inside, 1 layer biax tape outside and out side covered in 6 oz cloth. That’s a how I did mine with 2 layers tape inside and one outside holding it to the sole. Feels like a rock.
