Narfi

Yes It does work of curves. You just have to be careful and take it easy..

That is where a variable speed would come in handy.

If weather holds out and I get my other stuff done around the house, it should be in primer hopefully by next weekend.

2nd and should be final coat of fairing besides filling pin holes created by the fairing. Tomorrow I will sand and hopefully get the rubrail glued on. Then I will prime it and have it ready for paint. The center line was just roughed into place. I will it into shape.

That is looking pretty rough for a second coat of fairing. Guess your depending on that fancy sander. :D I would definitely fill that gouge towards the front before sanding so you don't have to sand it out. Looks way to deep, while not having to sand the rest of it so deep.

The key to fairing is: put it on like icing on a cake.

It would've taken longer to try to fix the gouge than sanding it out. It was starting to kick on me with fast hardner.

I will post videos later, but for now here are some pictures. I have started sharpening the chines. I will install rubrail and prime hopefully in the next couple of days.

I am just amazed how fast you get a surface that is ready for primer! What grit of paper are you using?

Fuzz I begin with 60-80. Once I shape the chines, I will go over the whole thing with 120 before primer.

fishgitr if you sand the gouge out down to get rid of it and not the whole bottom to the same depth you will a low spot there, and will have to fill it. I would highly recommend you speckle the bottom before the last sanding. When you do the final sand I think you will be surprised at how uneven the bottom is.

Tom, this isn't my first go around.. I know how to sand.

The spot I filled was after the first round. There was a lot spot that was next to the "gouge". Is the depth I needed to go down to. Whether it was there or not, I was still going back to that depth.

I do appreciate you trying to help.

Coated the back third of the boat with primer. It went on pretty smooth, now I'm back to it.
