Scrape and carve while 20 hours green can sure cut down on time sanding and fairing.

Start fair - end fair.

That looks SOLID! Is that an Axis deer skull on the upper left?

It is. Came from the Texas hill country several years ago. Low fence, at the time they were really challenging our whitetail population.

Thank you, it is solid. I’m really curious on how it will perform. I’m looking at jack plates now and wondering what the best set back distance is. I plan on running a 90hp 4stroke Yamaha, Shaw Wing cavitation plate and trim tabs.

Hi Matthew, a 4" set back set back is what was stated a few weeks ago, from an XF20 owner. Call Jeff for a Bob's Jack plate quote he get's a discount from them and he will be able to advise you on which one to get. You do not normally combine a cavitation plate with trim tabs, one or the other. Good luck.

There's a herd loose in south central Florida. Trying to get permission to go take one. The state is not happy about them being loose. We also have an established herd of Sambar deer on an island in the panhandle.

As they serve separate function, can you explain why?

capeman trimtabs and a cavitation plate are a duplication of effort. Trimtabs are much more efficient than a motor mounted cavitation plate. Plus they can be adjusted individually for maximum handling. I am not knocking cavitation plates they do a good job, you just do not need both as they do the same job. I have a have a cavitation plate on CL OD18, it just as well could have had trim tabs.

Well keep the deer pictures coming. :D

While a cavitation plate installed just above the lower unit may provide some improved trim control as a whole by trimming of the outboard but that is not the purpose of a cavitation plate. The more proper term should be anti cavitation plate. The purpose of the cavitation plate is to keep the prop from sucking in air (cavitating). The plate helps hold water above the prop especial while raised above the bottom of the boat an into the tunnel wash. we run our boats in less than 8" of water. It also helps with hole shot in shallow water.

Trim tabs are just that, tabs that are installed toward the outer edges of the transom far away from the motor and have nothing to do with keeping the prop from cavitating. There are however very effective at trim control and can be operated independently for really fine tuning the ride under any number of different water conditions. This is a big flat bottom boat with a tunnel. By design alone it not going to handle very well, trim tabs will help some.

That is my experience anyway.
