FS14, July 2012 Tom in Steinhatchee

Post by thb »

Well we finally get her wet today for short trip on the river and trying to get back before the thunderstorm came. The owmbo was taking pictures but freqing out due to the approaching storm. It was a short 20 minute trip but she takes wakes nicely and dry. Top speed was 21.7 mph with my 15 hp 2 stroke yamaha ( craigslist special ). Will probably do more with the bimini top down. She should cruise pretty nicely at 18 mph or so which is just fine for this type of boat.

Had to clean the carb out twice to get it running right as it was gummed up pretty bad after sitting for one year. Dern water in the fuel too. New gas in new can and she runs the way it did when I bought her.

Now its time to go fishing with her and she if she brings us good luck.

Regards
Tom in Steinhatchee

The heavens opened up on the short drive home so we made it back to the ramp in the nick of time. The owmbo is always leary when I tell her, it will be ok, trust me.

That's nice Tom. I have an aluminium 14footer, just doesn't have the 'class' of a nicely built wooden one. Also with a 30hp 2 stroke on my aluminium it's still slower than what you're getting out of that.

Nice one.

Cameron.

Thanks to everyone for the positive comments. I think she needs a dark blue boot stripe. What do all you folks say????

Forgot the picture of the wake from the other day. This was at wide open throttle with the nasty thunderstorm coming our way.
