NC16 July, 2014

Post by gstanfield »

This morning we loaded up and drove down to Glendo Reservoir to play at the "beach" and test out the NC16. It was a nice sunny day, temp in the upper 70's to low 80's and a gentle breeze blowing through about 10mph. My folks are in town from GA so I have plenty of pictures. My Dad has always been a shutterbug, but since getting a digital it's gotten worse. The upside is I have plenty of pics of anything we do together!

She's an easy carry to the water, but then again I'd hope a simple canoe could be carried a hundred yards by two grown men!

...and she touches water for the first time...

First a test paddle with just me, don't want to put the kids in danger if it's terribly unstable...

Image

Stable and good paddling, not bad for such a simple design...

..and now the kids all get a turn...

With rave reviews from the whole crew I even manage to talk Steph into going out for a paddle.

All in all, I'm quite happy with the finished product as well as the simple, yet effective design.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The kids absolutely loved the boat and have been asking every day to go back out on it. Now to finish the other three partially built boats littering my shop.... 8)
