OD16 July 2019

Post by steeps »

I've been a member here for years and somehow missed the "Builders Progress" section.
Here is my OD16, just launched. Still have some items to finish (rub rail, wiring clean up, etc), but I couldn't wait to use her. Will post better pics, when my phone/camera is fixed

That's an unusual power source on the back. Is it electric? Can you share details on performance/price/range?

Yes, it's electric. 10hp from EZ Outboard (LS10). Check out the website, if you want one, let me know (stoeckel.jim@gmail.com). I can get them much cheaper than listed. Expensive part is the batteries, to get the most out of the motor you really need LIPO4 batteries. A little learning and you can build them yourself vs buying. The motor pushes the boat at 10mph, but that will drain the AGM batteries I am using in about 45min. The control box has options to limit the draw so you can get more running time.
