P.S. Jeff- you can make me a “Bateau Builder” now
She sails easily and is very stable- doesn’t seem to want to lean much but rather sails more upright. On our first trip out we encountered seas that were 4 to 6 feet with heavy winds- we sailed right on through with no trouble. She sails like a much bigger boat. I’m very happy I went with Jacques modified Chinese lug rig. It is very easy to use and rig -even for a beginning sailor like me. When motoring without the sail she can be a bit sensitive to the wind because of her high profile sides but that’s to be expected.
My modifications: The only real modification I made was to level the seat tops and I am very glad I did that. It is comfortable when sailing (in fact during our four hour sail I didn’t even think about the seats at all) . Additionally, the seats are very comfortable when relaxing at anchor or hanging out with the Bimini top up
Very happy I built her
Thanks to all of the good folks here on the forum for all the encouragement / advice/pointers and good humor

I'm very happy the boat performed so well; but you should give yourself a little credit for understanding how to shorten sail and not get too overpowered. Sounds like you have some great adventures awaiting.

Jeff can give you that title but you are the one that made you a builder. But isn't this your second boat?
Also we can call you a SAILOR!!
Congratulations on a beautiful built boat. Looks like you and your family/friends will enjoy her for many years to come. Thanks for the entertainment over the months getting her together, it was a journey we all enjoyed you sharing with us.

Glad to see you at the finish line.
It helps me. I have a long way to go.
Have fun. I am glad to see you vested. People often take for granted vesting, but you are so new and if anyone got beaned in the head and went overboard or if the water is cold; a vest can save them.
We will have a policy onboard that the captain and first mate will always be vested while underway.

Very nice build. Your adventure of sailing is just beginning. Just wonderful.
Currently building Jacques Mertens ST21 "Skinnydip".
