Lady C. sea trials

Post by Kereven »

Lady C. got wet last week-end...

Here is a few lines on the findings:
1- She sails well. We were on Lake Conroe, the wind was very unstable, but we went up to 6.2 knots with one reef in the main and no spinnaker down wind (center board up).
2- She is very stable.
3- The centerboard trunk splashes water all over, a lot of water. I need to look into adding a trunk cover that would prevent this from occuring.
4- As a consequence, the inside got quite some water and not much access to remove the water. I will install a couple hatches in the cockpit in order to pump out any water that comes in. It will also serve as storage, since the area available is large.
5- It takes me one hour to rig up and one hour to rig down with the jib I have made to lift the mast up. It si not too bad, however, I will need to find a place to store the Lady C. on her trailer close to the water, where I do not need to ring mast up and down every time.
6- the slot in the mast for the main is to small and I already damaged the main sail rope cover fabric. I am looking at replacing the rope with slides.
7- My centerboard was abit tight in the trunck, but it worked out fine. The pulling system works perfectly with the trailor winch.

I am a happy sailor now.

More sea trials of Lady C.

We have put the spinnaker on for about 30 minutes and we had a good time.
