AD-14
Re: AD-14
The spi pole is on the left side. It is easy to launch on that side (run the tack out to the end of the sprit)
The other side I havent settled out how to run the tack out to the sprit end.
(Maybe I launch from the same side but toss the chute out forward of the forestay?)
Thus far I've flown the sail on the right side by routing the sprit line around the forestay. If this is how to best fly the sail then I will want to use a boat hook to more easily pull the line and around the forestay.

Re: AD-14
Then it’s an asymmetrical spinnaker?
What I’ve seen the race boats doing is run the tack around the forestay with the spin still on deck. Clew and sheets run to allow tack across forestay (everyone has a foredeck member run the clew over the stay vs pulling it over with the sheet). When halyard is pulled spin launches lee and you’re off.
Obviously these are multi person teams so it might not work exactly the same for you. I did see one asym split being pulled over a forestay. I assume there was a snag. My captain said “that’s why you run it not pull it” when asked by someone (that may have been me).

Thanks Jaysen.
I went again today expecting I would learn more.
But my wife came along and she did all the sailing. (She is a real novice)
She had one long fast tack with the spinnaker on the left side...that was fun.
She was only half able to hide her smile.

The video makes the boat look bow heavy but i dont know...I've shifted ballast out of the bow before only to put it back again. Still, I'm going to adjust trim aft.
I love the spinnaker. Not sure how to sail it yet but it is fun.

I don't know if this video gives a sense of speed?
For this boat...this is considered fast under mainsail only.
I can go a little faster but I can't show a little faster.
The camera always gets put away for those conditions.

Great stuff. Where are you? Nice breeze and flat water. Boat is looking good! I think when most people visualize sailing, this is what they're thinking of. No terror or thrashing about. We don't get much flat water around here, even on mellow days.

Re: AD-14
AD builders might want to see this video of the spinnaker going up.
(I don't do it well but I probably won't film it again either)

Hi,
You did it very well for me it was raised as fast as on a racing sailboat. Did the wind pick up a bit after you took the video ?
Greetings from Karl
