Yes, it will last years longer than varnish. And ipe isn't called ironwood for no reason. It is the toughest wood I've ever worked with, but it sure finishes out pretty! The cypress on the sole and pod is 100 years old and reclaimed. I ripped it from some rough pieces and ran it through the planer and joiner, beautiful stuffDoes that clearcoat provide a longlasting durable finish over the ipe that doesn't need the "maintenance" that a varnish will?
