Carbon overlay

So, I want to do a carbon overlay of my helm station. The helm station holes are all going to be cut out today. Panel size is about 32x32".
I think I need to do the carbon overlay on a table.
So, I will make a carbon panel and then trim it and then fit it to the helm. I can also spray it with a uv finish inside.
I am getting cold cure epoxy from bbc.
If I put a layer of thickened cold cure resin down; then I ought to be able to tack the carbon on, right?
Forseeable issues...
1. The carbon is too fragile in a single piece to take over to the boat. I could make the carbon panel over the top of a sheet of 12 oz biax or 6 oz woven...thoughts?
2. The layover gets lumpy. This could happen if the underlying material isn't on smooth or moves during curing. I plan a 1/16" vee trowel.
3. I get epoxy on the finish. I suppose I can get some clean release tape and plastic the panel before laminating it on.
Other concerns?
Any discussion is welcomed. Thanks.
