Help mounting a toilet. Yeah, really.

Post by fallguy1000 »

I gotta mount a toilet, but I have no access to under the floor.

Would you guys build a platform or would you install some t studs?

That thing is a template to get the studs or floor bolts located. If I build a platform; I could repair a broken or loose mount, but looks like crap. If I put t studs in the floor and one breaks off, the toilet would wobble or be held by glue only. The studs also need to be short enough so as not to interfere with the side mounts.

To make matters worse, the wall tapes behind the toilet make it sit uneven, so the front needs to come up like 1/4" or more. And I don't want to fill the entire bathroom floor with fairing mix or gypcrete!

Oh, btw, the outlet is macerated out the back; not down.

I think you won't be happy unless you have some type of access to the bolts if needed. Saying that, then you'll need some type of platform.
But platforms can be attached or built all kinds of ways. Track and slide comes to mind. Side access panels that come off to be able to replace the bolts if needed. You'd also be able to design the platform to make the toilet level so no shimming.

I am mounting adhesive head bolts; toilets can also be glued down with modern adhesives like 4200. Thanks for the reply.

Get some black mamba fhg.
It’ll glue that bracket down ten times stronger than 4200.
The crap sticks like crazy. Dries in less than 5 minutes.
Pop a few extra holes in the bracket so it muffin tops.
Don’t glue it down in the wrong spot...
