I hope he's not stealing plans!

Post by jayb01 »

Flats boats offered for sale by someone in SC.

He now claims he has an improved jig to speed build time.

Wonder if I can put a tunnel in it?

"I can build you a flats boat. Less than 2 weeks build time. 10 or 13 feet long by 3 ft wide and 1 ft tall. Wood construction.

Update: Reworked plans and improved jig. Boats can now be ready in 3-5 days."

I see he has a finance plan, I wonder if he is set up for shipping boats to WY. Maybe even a dealer network out west?
Previous builds: FL14, NC16, and others...

Current build: FL14 (+10%)

Those alternating bottom ribs look to be the key to the strength of this hull. Maybe Jacques can implement this design breakthrough into some of his hulls. Should save on materials.

Also, it goes to show what spending a few extra hours on fairing will do to make a hull shine.

YIKES,Good thing it's a "Flats Boat" Cause a foot of water is all I would want to float??? that in..And with no way to mount a motor you better like paddling and poling :D

The word break is appropriate, that thing will break easily.
Who volunteers to be the test pilot?

True. If he can build a flats boat in 3-5 days that REALLY cuts down on the required rum budget

You can't compete with the finish and the aesthetics. and I have to revisit all my ideas about a boat's strength. It's the frameless boat that so many asked for.

From the looks of the paint on his driveway, that's the prototype in the photo!
