In some cases we will still have a plywood cored bottom, in others, all will be foam sandwich.

Custom built.
Done properly, it should be worth more.

Are you saying the TW34 may be back from the dead?

This has me intrigued. What would the cost of hull materials difference be on a boat like a ph18 or OB19? 50% more, double? Do you also use foam core for the transom? Does it require more or less epoxy? I could sell a foam core boat.

I've never had a problem with resale or stigmaIt will still have the home built stigma and the re-sale won't be there regardless.

Not really. There are many fine boat builders on here.

Just cause it's home built, doesn't mean it has to look home built. . Quality speaks for itself. All you need is the right buyer that recognizes quality. The consistency of foam panels should make for easier fairing I would think, and being able to say "wood free" would definitely be a plus.

Those cheap boat builders made mess with plywood and instead of improving their methods, they blame the material.
Used properly, plywood is a perfectly good material but for larger boats, foam sandwich is lighter and becomes easier to use.

Yes for sure.Cracker Larry wrote:Not really. There are many fine boat builders on here.
And double yes for sure on that.Steven wrote:Just cause it's home built, doesn't mean it has to look home built. .
I'm just saying that the average boat buyer will shy away from it as will most banks and insurance companies when it becomes a "used" boat. It would definitely take an educated buyer (with cash) to appreciate the craftsmanship, time and dedication that goes into building your own boat and be willing to pay what its worth.
