The most popular fishing river around here has a 50 hp 4-stroke limit on it. So tons of them here. Yamaha has the largest percent but all the others are seen too. I am running a Merc but I think it is one of the ones built by Yamaha. All in all I have not seen enough difference in the brands to make any difference. I would chose the brand based on the dealer I wanted to deal with.

Thanks Fuzz.

I'm in DeLand between Daytona/Orlando, lots of good and bad dealers for all makes!

My 155 Scout had a 2003 Yam 60 4 stroke on it and I loved it!!! I could not have replaced it financially. So I'm going to look for a used 50. I have rebuilt a few Yam 25/30 2 strokes, but definitely want a 4 stroke for the C17 (Classic 17). I have time to save up... Damn I sound like a kid saving for a bike!!

If you rebuilt 25/30 two strokes then not much difference for a 4 stroke but just a few more parts that move. Most guys can handle the mechanical stuff, it's the fuel delivery system and electronics that get most confused. If you are comfortable with the Yamahas than stick with them.

If fresh water, go Yamaha or Suzuki. If salt water, go Yamaha.

I bought a motor from this guy. He's in the Tampa/St. Pete area. I had a good experience.
