I got a shot of inspiration watching Jordy build his cooler. So this will be a really big version, most of the time functioning as a fish box on my big boat. About the only time I can think of when it could actually used be as a normal cooler would be for weeklong camping trips. Hence, the name in the subject box.
I got some free styrofoam from a Kmart they were tearing down. I think it will work for insulation.
I don’t want to spend a fortune on this project so I’m using 1/2” AB marine for the box. The corners are pre-made, very tight grain material with phenolic glue. I will be putting a liner on the inside. I’ve put some thought into this, hopefully it will work out.
I got the box tacked together today, here are some photos...

That's not a cooler, that's a bomb shelter!

Re: Cape Sable Cooler
Looks awesome already!
I must have awakened the beast within. It’s like starting another boat build.
Can’t wait to see how you finish it up.

Re: Cape Sable Cooler
Where is the " I like this post" button?
Yes, it is a beast of a cooler but don't worry about delamination of the foam and all that. The whole plywood structure is strong enough and while air will get between foam and glass or plywood, it will add an extra insulation barrier. All my warnings about insulation foam delaminating are about structural parts, here it does not matter.
But what a monster cooler, you"ll need a forklift to put it on the boat.

Maybe a lifeboat?!
It does look good already! Very excited to follow this build.

Be willing to bet this thing turns into a work of art
Re: Cape Sable Cooler
Very cool!!
Where did you get premade corners like that? I've never seen such a thing. Are they marine ply too?
