You can check with Sailrite's "how-to" section on building a T-top and doing it right.

Very nice and informative article. 8)
I wish the dude that screwed up my canvas had read it.
As of right now, I’m leaning towards the foam/fiberglass top.
Mainly due to not having a sewing machine or the proper tools to work on canvas.

I built this top for a wood planked 41 foot sport fish I did a keel up restoration on about 20 years ago. Very simple build. Made a form with 2x8's for the curve, screwed down plywood, laid plastic sheeting down, and epoxied 3 layers alternating direction, of white cedar 1/4" x 3", with just enough short stainless staples to hold down the strips. Ran a thick Mahogany border around and Teak for the overhead. Was very light for 2 guys to pick up and move around, and all solid wood for anchoring stuff. Mike

Richard you have seen my foam top , just use a long board to sand the edges and they come out nice.
I used 1 layer of 12 OZ each side and its plenty strong . I used ply inserts for hard points . There are pic's
on my thread if interested .

John, heck yes- your top looks great!
I didn’t really look at it too close to gauge the thickness?
