Shurflo bait pump mounting

Post by TomTom »

I have a Shurflo Bait and Livewell pump. Does anyone know if it matters whether I mount it vertically or on its side?

i have had issues before with it not priming (my boat is quite shallow draft and it’s as low as I can get it) .... it’s always been mounted vertically but I see in the instruction manual it shows horizontal mounting?

https://www.pentair.com/content/dam/...ewell-pump.pdf

Thanks

I’ve got three functional shurflo pumps mounted horizontally on my Pursuit.

Do you use the out take for a wash down pump at all? Wondering how that works?

Yes sir, works great.
1 pump is for the bait tank, 1 is a macerator pump for the bait box and the last pump is for the raw water wash down. All mounted side by side horizontally. The wash down doubles as a backup pump for the bait tank.

Do you run it to a high pressure pump for the wash down - or does it generate enough pressure itself?

No, the shurflo wash down pump is ran directly into the deck hose. Works perfectly.
