If I didn't build gunwales,
how narrow do you think side stiffeners can i do?
I would use 9mm plywood or 20mm thick larch.
This is actually just a theoretical question as I plan to build gunwales but I am curious.
Thank you. Dennis
20mm would be better. Much stiffer and not in the way. Better would be a small frame 75mm and you can drill holes for rods etc on it. The gunwale is optional.
If building an FS17 I would use cross benches to stiffen the sides. Dual purpose and simple.

Your build looks really nice and clean, but I'm not sure of the purpose of all the holes in the sole?

serves two purposes. these will be containers. second: I’ve seen many boats with full floors, but no matter how well installed the water always seeps in after a while and increases boat weight and starts to rot. if there are doors, I can ventilate and clean.

I have a similar plan with mine, but no storage there. Flotation and ventilation only.

That is an extremly nice looking, super-clean build, congrats on getting her splashed!
There are only two seasons in Vermont: boating season, and boat-building season.

Beatiful. Glad you finally finished her. Get a lot of use from her. Remember when you started her.
