Thanks for the replies. I´m really psyched up to build a boat here...though i´m still looking for the liquid epoxy and outboard motors.

I did boil test on Atlas brand 1/2" Marine Grade. No problems after 30 min.+ boil and just left it in water to cool.

There is (apparently acceptable if my test counts) marine epoxy putty avail. here, but couldn´t reach the West supplier in Manila, phone number not hooked up yet so maybe it´s a new business.

Raka or other epoxy is asian made? ...

For epoxy shipment, 6 weeks surface is ok; I´d order 60 liters, maybe 100+ if can get in a barrel or other heavy duty container.

JimW, hi, yes this is same JohnM ...I´m here incorporating my humanitarian aid/educa. organization, helping a private high school on Mindanao recover following destruction of it´s facilities. I´m looking into building boat(s) here and also looking into building an amphibious bush plane (e.g., zenith 801 or murphy, etc.) which would be tremendously useful. As for boats, I think the C19 or OB19 will be my first choice for philippines building.

Will try to post in more appropriate forum next time.

Happy building and Happy New Year,
JohnM

Hello JohnM. From your posts I don't think you've found our forum for amateur boat builders in the Philippines . On it you will find information for local suppliers or the lack of them. Here is the URL: http://www.freeboards.net/index.php?mfo ... howforum=4
You're correct about the epoxy from Cord. There are also two other brands. Try not to use exterior plywood, there is a boatbuilding ply called Santa Clara and everyone swears by it. It is rather difficult to find.

JohnM.
I know of a boat yard in the Phillipines that builds with epoxy and plywood, mainly James Wharram cats, but also other designs like Jay Benford, Gilles Montaubin, Ken Hankinson, Glen-L.
I'm sure they have their source for epoxy and plywood, maybe you could contact them?
