I am trying to decide the best option regarding the most suitable motor for my C19. For some time I have been going to put an etec 115 on it when completed. However when considering the price, a Suzuki 4stroke 115 is a couple of grand cheaper. Then looking further, the weight of the 115 Suzuki is the same as the 140hp Suzuki, the cost of the Suzuki 140hp is only slightly more than the etec 115.
So - I am I going overboard considering a 140 hp motor when everyone with the boat is more than happy with a 115.
I have a few big mates, around 100kg, in fact my son is 93kg and he still plays under 14 rugby, I'm just wondering how the C19 will perform with four relatively big blokes in it with full fuel tanks.
I will update my website soon.
Cheers

With a 115 you should be just under or at 40 mph(64 kph) with that load. One of our guys JimW routinly hits lower to mid-40's with a 115HP and a good stainless prop. I love the quietness of the Suzuki's at there lower speeds just don't like there weight.
Good luck on your selection.

Just to throw in another 2bits - as long as the boat is designed and built to handle it, and fuel consumption isn't a big issue I would go with the 140 Suzy. I've never read about anyone complaining about too much HP. There are things you can do to beef up the strength of your transom and motorwell if you're at the top end of your particular design's horepower range.

The 115 is plenty for me. Hauls six adults easily. 4 scuba divers with gear. 60 gallons fuel, huge fishbox with ice, lots of gear and tackle, and three fisherman. No problem. If you want to top out above 50 mph, get the 140. If 45 is fast enough with a light load, the 115 will get it done.
