The attached notice is concerning what used to be called the DinghyCruising Messabout after the Yahoo!Group of the same name. Lake Jordan is just north of Montgomery, Alabama and is a 6800 acre lake. Mike Saunders is the organizer and an all-around nice guy. I plan on going with my FL14. Mark your calendars! This was just announced today so hopefully we can build up a good attendence. Mike is building a webpage concerning the messabout and has just indicated that it is almost ready. Camping/overnight facilities are available. I have parents in Montgomery so I haven't researched those facilities but Mike has indicated that he can help. Let's see what he puts up on his webpage. Last year the only bateau.com representation was 2 D4s! There were several other sailboats by professional and amateur designers as well as a power sharpie. It was a fun event and, I think, be even better this year since we have more time to build up the attendence.

2003 Fall Messabout
Place - Jarred Cantrell home, Lake Jordan. 5 miles north of Wetumpka
Ala. 20 miles north of Montgomery.
Time - All day October 18th (Saturday) (date changed)
Cost - Your gas to get there. Everything else is free.
Food - Our gracious hosts Jarred and Angela Cantrell will be cooking
chicken on the grill. I will have my famous BBQ Baked Beans. Hippie
Chick (Vicki) will have other items to eat. Bring your own
refreshments.
Accomodations - The Cantrell home is directly across a large slough
from the very nice state owned public ramp. (No Charge there) At the
Cantrells there are two docks with a Gazebo and a generous ammount of
shoreline. PLenty of shade and right off the main body of the lake.
Plenty of place to tie up to the dock for probably 15 boats. Others
may park on the beach.
I will be building a website for the event in the next few weeks. I
will post links to it.

Was I crying or whining? Didn't mean to. Let me put a happy face on:
Hope you and your family can come.
Anyway, here is some fishing information regarding Lake Jordan:
The bass fishery of Jordan Reservoir is a mixture of largemouth bass and spotted bass. It should be noted that spotted bass in the waters that drain to Mobile Bay (including the Coosa River lakes) are Alabama subspecies spotted bass, which grow faster and larger than Northern subspecies spotted bass, found outside the Mobile Bay drainage. Jordan Reservoir consistently ranks very high in the Bass Anglers Information Team which monitors club tournament results.
Crappie are not as abundant in Jordan Reservoir as in many other Alabama lakes but their growth is excellent with many individuals exceeding one pound. White bass, striped bass and hybrid striped bass can all be found in Jordan Reservoir. These fish are most often caught in areas of flowing water, such as below Mitchell Dam at the upstream end of Jordan Reservoir. This is also an excellent fishing location for the diverse catfish population of Jordan Reservoir, which includes channel catfish, blue catfish and flathead catfish.

Hope you and your family can come.

No HP or length limits that I have heard of. I know that many bass tournaments have been held there and they use triple digit HP engines. Lots of sloughs for fishing and less traffic too. Last year the messabout was at Lake Martin which is a nice 40000 acre lake. Mike likes the 6800 acre Lake Jordan better so I am anxious to see it. I will post camping information/directions/website information soon from Mike.
Wayne, give us the link for the web page.
Fritz was thinking of grouping all the meetings announcements, worldwide, at the amateurboatbuilding.com web site, presented like a calendar with detailed information.
PS: You weren't whining but Fishinchris probably referred to your avatar, it's a strange one. Not as strange as BillytheCat
