AR-15 Centerboard Question

Post by tomatkins »

I was just given a partially completed AR-15, and I am about ready to put the sole and seat/deck parts on; but I have question about the centerboard. The plan says that a sleeve is put on the bolt inside the centerboard case. What is the sleeve? Thanks for the help!

-also does anyone know any sources for cheap sails/rigging and/or trailers? (Gainesville, FL or Ft. Lauderdale, FL Areas)

The sleeve is a piece of SS pipe.

There isn't much sailing in Gainesville.
Try to find a used set of sails for a 470, it fits almost perfectly.
For the trailer, try Craigslist or drive to St Augustine.

Have you got a local source for the SS pipe Tom? Local source is nice since you can test fit the pipe ID on the bolt's OD. ANy progress? :)

SS being Stainless Steel. I had to look at it twice to know what Jacques meant, so I thought I'd clarify if you didn't get it.

Thanks guys; after a few days of phone calls and a couple trips to home depot and lowes, I found some scrap pipe from the machine shop on campus - finally pays to be a mech. engineering student. I am putting on the deck now and will probably have the seats done by Christmas - now for some sails and a mast.
